Day 3 - Atlantic Ocean Cruising

Day 4 - Luderitz

Arrive: Wed 23 March 2022 / Depart: Wed 23 March 2022

Between desert and sea, Lüderitz lives at the edge of a rocky coast, a fascinating city featuring an eclectic mix of German architecture and African landscape. The Lüderitz Peninsula boasts a fantastic array of wildlife, from flamingos and oryx to springbok and jackals. But it’s the surrounding waters that truly shine, where you’ll hopefully spot the rare Haviside’s dolphin, seals and maybe even whales. A large penguin colony makes a home on Halifax Island.

Day 5 - Walvis Bay

Arrive: Thu 24 March 2022 / Depart: Thu 24 March 2022

At the juxtaposition of ocean and desert, Walvis Bay was claimed for the British crown in 1878 by Commander Richard C. Dryer. Fast forward to March 1994 when Walvis Bay and its offshore islands were incorporated into the Republic of Namibia following extensive negotiations with the Republic of South Africa. Highlights include the Rhenish Mission Church, which was built in Hamburg in 1880 before being dismantled and shipped to these shores.

Day 6 - Atlantic Ocean Cruising

Day 7 - Atlantic Ocean Cruising

Day 8 - Luanda

Arrive: Sun 27 March 2022 / Depart: Sun 27 March 2022

Originally the heart of Portuguese Angola in the 17th century, Luanda has been an influential port city throughout its history. As such, it has long been a relatively developed and bustling hub of commerce and later, tourism, now beckoning travelers to explore a different side of Africa. The Fortaleza de São Miguel, built in 1576, offers views northward of the city’s waterfront, while Kissama National Park about an hour south of Luanda provides close-by wildlife viewing opportunities.

Day 9 - Atlantic Ocean Cruising

Day 10 - South Atlantic Ocean Cruising

Day 11 - Sao Tome

Arrive: Wed 30 March 2022 / Depart: Wed 30 March 2022

This largest city of this two-island nation is one of the world’s smallest capital cities. A verdant, varied landscape is shrouded in canopies of green – resulting from the advancing jungle that surrounds the island's iconic needle-shaped Pico Cão Grande, a volcanic pillar jutting 2,175 feet above sea level. It’s a place of 16th century fortresses, a reviving cocoa (and artisan chocolate) trade, vibrant reef diving in turquoise waters beyond the white sand beaches.

Day 12 - Bom Bom Island

Arrive: Thu 31 March 2022 / Depart: Thu 31 March 2022

This nearly completely forested islet is part of the UNESCO-listed Island of Príncipe Biosphere Reserve in the Gulf of Guinea off the west coast of Africa. Tropical forests and marine ecosystems throughout the reserve house remarkably diverse flora and fauna, making Bom Bom and its neighbors vital to the conservation of sea turtles, seabirds, cetaceans and coral reefs. The island’s fishing and coffee, cocoa and copra agriculture sustain the economy, along with ecological tourism.

Day 13 - Atlantic Ocean Cruising

Day 14 - Cotonou

Day 15 - Lome

Arrive: Sun 03 April 2022 / Depart: Sun 03 April 2022

Nestled in the Gulf of Guinea, Togo is a small country with a big heart, its capital of Lomé famous for the welcoming nature of its people. Lomé is a city of contrasts, bustling with commerce and industry as the main port here, but also lined with white beaches dotted with resorts and palm tree-lined avenues. The city center is a hub of cultural activity, from the region’s heritage at the Museum of West African Art to the colorful, entrepreneurial Grand Marché, or market.

Day 16 - Tema

Arrive: Mon 04 April 2022

The largest seaport in Ghana, Tema boasts an inner and outer fishing harbor, the former known as the Canoe Basin and built to encourage the local fishing practice; the latter designed for the commercial fishing industry. But some of the most fascinating sites are located further along the coastline, where you’ll find UNESCO-listed forts and castles remaining from the Portuguese trade between the 15th and 18th centuries.

Day 17 - Tema

Depart: Tue 05 April 2022

The largest seaport in Ghana, Tema boasts an inner and outer fishing harbor, the former known as the Canoe Basin and built to encourage the local fishing practice; the latter designed for the commercial fishing industry. But some of the most fascinating sites are located further along the coastline, where you’ll find UNESCO-listed forts and castles remaining from the Portuguese trade between the 15th and 18th centuries.
